Wilco -- 4/10/10, Philadelphia, PA

Recommended Posts

Great show with an awesome encore -- Dreamer in My Dreams, Casino Queen, Outtasite (Outtamind) (they played Mind/Site in the acoustic), and a "rave" version of I'm a Wheel with no instruments, just them having fun on the stage, singing part of the song while a prerecorded version with a few extra beats played on a Macbook.

The soundcheck, as heard through the front doors, was stellar:

Fool Such as I

The Losing End

Outtamind (Outtasite)

So Much Wine

In the Streets

Thirteen

Someday Soon

I Must be High

Scranton was great, I put Montclair night 2 in the top 20 shows I ever saw. This may have been better. Jeff did a lot of ball busting in the acoustic set about the talkers (when you have a ga show where there are alot of people in the back with no great view, I'm not sure how it's avoidable) but when they went back to the electric set set, the crowd participation, specifically in Hate it Here and Jesus, seemed to energize the band and the show just took off. Sorry no, set list but they played all of YHF minus Kamera, Radio Cure and reservations, and if I remember right, 4 from AM including a full band I Must Be High.

Got scared when they played Hate it Here and Walken early in the 3rd set that they might cut the show short but it really took off from there. I really thought that they would come back after that rave version of Wheel but they didn't. They did that rave thing because Jeff kept taking about there being a rave after the show.

Jeff did this hilrious bit imitaing Paul Stanley of Kiss when he was talking about the pot smokers and then playing I must be high, can wait for a recording of the show to hear it again.

DAMN it.... I knew it!!!

Philly, my hometown, got all of the serious jams!

Pittsburgh, tonight, where I'm going to be, might very well get stuck with not nearly the energy present last night!

this is what wilco does.

damn it!

I can not even stand most of the Top Ten Requests for Sunday Apr 11, 2010 Carnegie Music Hall, Pittsburgh - PA:

Hotel Arizona

Someday Some Morning

Sometime

Another Man's Done

Gone

When You Wake Up

Feeling Old

Poor Places

Candy Floss

Company In My Back

Via Chicago

At Least That's What

You Said

BUT WHERE ARE:

i sure hope Pitt doesn't lack energy, if that's possible, due to the calm/tame song request

Scranton was great (always leave them wanting less!), but I loved Philadelphia more. The energy seemed better. The night flew by! Maybe it was where we were in the balcony, but I wasn't bothered by talkers as much as Scranton. Always some surprises, loved rave Wheel!

If you cant stand most of the request songs then why the hell would you go to a Wilco show?

Those are some of the best and rarest songs to hear at a show and if they played them all it would be the best show they ever played.

How can you even say, and worry that the band will lack energy!? This does not seem like a show you should be going too.

I have seen them 3 times this tour and 15 all together and have never NEVER been disappointed, worried, negative about Jeff or a set list once.

Stop being such a big complainer and enjoy the show.

The are gonna Rock and they are gonna Roll! Believe me!@#

I saw Wilco for the first time last night in Philly-what a awesome concert! I had thought that standing on the floor for over three hours would be rough, but the time just flew by, and the music was so fantastic, that it didn't bother me at all. I brought my son and a friend along, and they also thought it was an awesome show. My friend had never heard a single Wilco tune before, and now he's hooked!

Can't wait until the next time I see this band-they are truly amazing!

I think the requests for tonight are perfect. And that is despite the fact that the song I requested is not on there.

I'm going to take last night's incredible setlist as a sign of good things to come. No reason to critique a show that hasn't even happened yet.

I cannot wait. :dancing

I'm guessing you folks were not at the Duquesne show. The band was amazing, they can be nothing but amazing, but the venue *and college campus* stunk and was not only a dry show, as tonight may be as well, for whatever reason, but if Jeff mentioned it all!!!

Wilco rocks, and I'd never expect anything less, but these "rarities" as you put it, are not the band's absolute best work, as that is why they do not get played as often

most hopefully at least tonight I have the price is right theme, and wilco the song, to look forward to at least....

Amen!

I'm from Philly as well, but have lived here in Pittsburgh for the past 25 years. It's a great music town, even though it's primarily known for it's sports.

The crowd will be HOT!

As far as being pissed about the requests, give me a friggin' break.

Sell your ticket to a fan and quit your whining.

Peace!

Have fun tonight, I know I will!

yeah sounds like something I want to do

what a joke.

Tonight is going to be a blast

but anyone that disagrees with me over the selections i chose rather than the one's lame-o's chose is just foolishly blind, purposely.

Why? Are you kidding me? I would go, and am going, and bought a ticket, because I like the band, and their music. It's not my fault the fans in this 'city' are very focused on hearing some of the less popular stuff.

How can you even say, and worry that the band will lack energy!?

That's just dumb to say to anyone to not go to a wilco show.

the band cannot lack energy

it is their last SHOW in america right on this leg of the tour though!!!

and the requests are not exactly the most fast paced..

are you just hating?

I thought this was a joke post at first, but they keep coming, so...

Dude, all the songs you want them to play (except "Kingpin" and "Misunderstood") are songs they literally play every single night. So you don't need to worry. Plus, they're playing 35+ songs a night, so there is plenty of room for rarities, even if you personally don't like them for whatever reason.

Also, you really think that "Via Chicago", "California Stars", "Poor Places", and "At Least That's What You Said" are "not the band's best work"?

I was at the last Pittsburgh show. The venue left a lot to be desired but I had a great time.

Thanks for calling us foolishly blind lame-o's. Nice way to introduce yourself to the forum. :thumbup
