Outstanding setlist! Love to see Far Far Away and War on War. I am hoping that Poor Places stays in the setlist as the song they play transitioning into the acoustic set - haven't seen them play that song since the YHF tour.

SarahC - congratulations on winning the raffle, and equally (or more) important, glad you got Wishful Thinking!

After front row in Athens OH last year, it took two days to get rid of the ringing from Pat's Marshall. It WAS worth it! :dancing

I totally regret not getting tix for Pittsburgh.

Yeah I splurged for front row through one of the douchebag ticket sites, and it was well worth it. Would have paid more!

Ears still buzzing btw :D

5th show overall, first since getting drenched at Chastain from the 3rd row....

Odd crowd...I don't know if its the influence of late coming fans of 'lounge-act wilco,' but it seemed like alot of the crowd (around me anyway) really got alot more into You & I and some other YtA songs than some of the songs that, seem to me, are better known. That said, the crowd was standing the whole show in the orchestra and Jeff commented about everyone standing the whole show in the balcony, and that 'you never see that in the upper decks, thank you.'

Jeff seemed in really good spirits tonight.

I think, though I could be wrong, the robot voice announcement did request no photography, not like stated at Miami no flash photography. Somewhere around One Wing or SITA, Jeff responded to someone complaining about their friend getting kicked out for taking pictures and Jeff said something along the lines of 'he had plenty of warnings, didn't he? he probably was warned after one picture and took another one, didn't he?' the person persisted and he responded with 'its not all about you honey' to large cheers from the crowd.

During the restaurant gift certificate giveaway, Jeff commented, rock shows really don't have enough raffle drawings. Someone towards the front commented that they own Grindhouse Killer Burgers (which is downtown in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market) and would give anyone who mentioned the show a free burger. He later amended it to having to bring your ticket stub, but thought that was really cool.

Sound was clear and not overwhelming. John was really low in the mix, would have loved to have heard him better, but no major complaints about sound.

Nels seemed to be moving freely and fully into the show. He killed as always, though after the second solo in Imp Germany, there was a very rough transition back into the melody part of the song.

Mike had a killer solo during Can't Stand It.

Great night, overall the best of the shows I've seen by far.

So wonderful ya'll are and I hope the 4 leaf clover brings Wilco "luck" just as being a fan of Wilco brings me "luck" :cheekkiss Much love guys!!!

Sarah I knew you would be so happy during WT just as I :dancing

Thank you Wilco for coming to Georgia and playing your hearts out, the last two nights have been truly magical for me,

you’ll never know how your music touches me! :cheekkiss

After hanging on every setlist from Miami Beach, there's certainly more structure to their show than in previous tours. But about a minute into Ashes of American Flags, an awe set in of the moment. Following Nels fluid solo through the song, the thought hit me that, from Jeff and the band's perspective, to be able to hone setlists from such a catalog of music with variations from show to show, should be incredibly gratifying. I can't put words to it, but I'm afraid that's the closest I'll get ...

Quick hello to Sarah! Was good to say hi again after all these years!!

My 36th show, I believe. First in almost a year though. My personal highlights were Casino Queen, Laminated Cat, and One Wing. Really enjoyed the show as a whole and wish it hadn't been so long since I last saw them play. Was a wonderful ending to a bad day.

I had front row balcony seats. This was my fifth Wilco show. The set list was great but I thought the audio (mix?) was less than stellar. Very muddled sound and almost impossible to hear solos, drums, et al. I could not tell if it was louder than usual or not. I heard same complaints from others. Overall, very enjoyable but because of the sound, not as great for me as the Ryman shows....

An Evening With Wilco at the Fabulous Fox Theatre March 26, 2010

I have been looking forward to an Evening With Wilco since I got tickets in January. Going in I was afraid I had set my expectations too high, but Wilco definitely did not disappoint. We spent most of the day hanging around the bus in hopes of talking to Jeff, but he never was around. We did get to chat with John, Pat and Nels briefly, and I was able to snap a picture with John and Pat.

Being one of the first people in the door I made a beeline for the merch table and bought the tour shirt, a poster, and Being There on vinyl. I’d been saving the money for months to be able to splurge on the merch. The poster is really cool, and I can’t wait to listen to the vinyl.

I felt very fortunate to have been granted a photo pass for this show. It was my first time having a credential of that sort. Wilco took the stage a little bit after 8 o’clock, while “The Price Is Right” theme song played. From the opening notes of “Wilco (the song)” I knew it was going to be crazy night. Next up was “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” which is always fun to hear live. The first real highlight of the show was “Bull Black Nova”, which is probably my favorite song off of the latest record. The song literally exploded into the theatre. Jeff, Nels, and Pat’s guitar playing painted an image of anxiety all too familiar to me. After the first three songs I returned to my seat in the 3rd row of the pit and the band launched in to “You Are My Face”. It was during this song that I realized my promise to my voice teacher about not singing along was going to be futile, and I let it ring. Over the next few songs I think I was the only one singing in my section, but I didn’t care. Jeff looked at me a lot, and we sang at each other, me grinning from ear to ear, and he smiling occasionally. The 2nd big surprise of the night was “Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again)” which is so much fun! Next was “Wishful Thinking”, and as I saw Jeff fingering that Dm chord I knew it was coming. Within the first verse I was transformed into a puddle of emotion. This song means so much to me for reason I won’t talk about now, and to be able to see the band play it live was a dream come true. The crazy thing is that song wasn’t even played halfway through the mammoth 34 song set. “Impossible Germany” and “California Stars” were played next, both were spectacular. The most intriguing part of the evening for me was the acoustic section, where, during the noise on “Poor Places”, the road crew set up 6 separate stations, and lamps came on. Glenn moved down off of his riser, and played a very small kit. It looks like the pre-show practice kit. Pat was on a keyboard, and had over small hand-held instruments. Mikael had different synths, and low and behold Nels Cline was on acoustic guitars! It was really a treat to see him play acoustic style. John had a hollow body bass, and played an electric upright for the latter half of the set. Jeff played his smaller acoustic guitars. The songs played in the set were simply stunning. “Spiders(Kidsmoke)” was an interesting hybrid. Jeff played the solo acoustic arrangement, while the rest of the band laid the kraut-rock foundation underneath. “Far, Far Away” was really nice to hear, because that’s the first Wilco song I ever really fell in love with. After that, Jeff said that “rock shows don’t have enough raffles”, he had several envelops, and read out names, when he got to the last one he said, “This one goes to Sarah, for requesting “Wishful Thinking”” and he smiled at me. I thought he was gonna give me the envelope then, but he said I had to go pick it up from Stan at the soundboard after the show. Wow. I was floored. The gift certificate I won is to an all-organic restaurant. I think we’re going to use it in 2 months when we go see Neil Young at the Fox. The next big surprise on the set was a crazy Dylan-esque arrangement of “Casino Queen”. From looking around the pit, it seemed people didn’t know that song. I freaked out just a little bit during it though. They closed the acoustic set with “Passenger Side” which Jeff dedicated to a really obnoxious drunk who pitched a hissy fit earlier in the night. Right before that song the drunk guy thew a twenty dollar bill on stage. I was glad Jeff stuck it in his pocket instead of giving it back. During “Airline To Heaven” the band transitioned back to electric mode. The rest of the set was pretty standard, and awesome. “I’m A Wheel” was played faster than I’d ever seen it done. Pat snuck up on John and scared him, which gave everybody a good giggle. Then, as if the last 3 hours had disappeared the band walked off stage. They came back and played “Thank You Friends” by Big Star just as they have done every night of the tour thus far. It was a wonderful way to end the most epic night of music I have ever experienced in my 22 years of life.

I was throughly impressed by the “sets” they had throughout the night. The “candles” that lined the back and sides of the stage were really cool, as was the color changing textured background. I thought it was interesting, that the restaurant that is beside the Fox had the same “candle” sort of light fixtures.

I have some nice pictures, which I will upload shortly.

Thank you WILCO for an amazing evening. Your generosity astounds me.

Thank you Jeff for writing songs that mean so much to me.

Oh yeah, and before I forget, so nice to meet Allison, Bonnie, and John! Yay for the VC community!

Hey how do you get a "Picture Pass??" just wondering? Credentials for a future show...would be nice to take in my nice camera and get some nice shots for a change and not feel like I am doing something illegal. Do you contact the venue management or the band?? Thanks.

Great post SarahC. After seeing the first 2 shows in Florida (where I work) I returned to Atlanta (where I live), but because of family commitments and scheduling I could not go to the show at the Fox. Couldn't believe I was in the same city as the band and couldn't go. Anyway, your write-up kept the feeling of the previous 2 shows (Miami, being the best I ever saw, Clearwater, slightly behind) alive. Thanks.

This was by far the best Wilco show I've seen so far dating back to '05. I was amazed at the consistent output for nearly 3 hours and the energy the band had. I do think a lot of people were caught out by the lack of an opener and fairly prompt start, but if you're on this forum I assume you'd show up on time anyway:) I shared with a friend who also works with Pat occasionally that I'm amazed at how well they play together as a unit and the fact that they appear to be really enjoying it at this point. It's such a refreshing way. This was my girlfriend's second show and we both thought the mix of songs was awesome, well displaying the depth and variety of catalog available. I'm in awe of the fact they get to process that for each show! It was really awesome to me as well that they're paying homage each night to Alex Chilton with one of my favorite Big Star songs.

We were in the 3rd row as well in the pit, and I loved that the crowd down there stood the whole time and almost everyone sang almost the entire time. I really wondered how long he was going to let the crowd sing Jesus, Etc... and thought it was awesome it went on for half the song without him needing to "assist". The show is really impressive in both content and flow, and is a very special experience appropriate in title in every way.

It was also nice to see all the crowd interaction and the goodwill of the band, both down that close and just generally with the crowd. There was a couple with thier little girl front row center, and Jeff talked to them a few times and specifically to the girl, as well as handing her his pic at the end of the main set after I'm a Wheel. Myself having just finished rehab and entering recovery, this show was my first Wilco(or any other) concert in 18 years(I'm 35) sober. It was an incredible experience and nothing like what I thought it would be. There were a couple of particular things that happened that were cool to me. When the guy who had argued with Jeff(who was almost right behind me in his proper seat) kept yelling at the end of every song "we love you" and "I'm sorry" and "I want to apologize", Jeff finally said "okay, that's done, it's not all about you" which was cool. He also picked up a little later the 20 the guy had thrown on stage at hime in anger(???) during the conversation and said he'd take it as a tip. Apparently this guy felt a real need to persist, so he left for a while nad showed back up with shots, placing one between two monitors at Jeff's feet. Jeff looked down and kicked it back at the guy, going on to check with the people around afterwards that the might have been splashed inadvertently. I've been that obnoxious asshole before(maybe not quite that bad-never at Wilco) and am thankful to not be that person now.

This show was awesome, and truly an unforgettable experience for me and my girlfriend. The sound right off the stage was great, the crowd around us was great, and Wilco was in great form. Thanks Wilco, and thanks everyone else for a wonderful evening. I look forward to many more. Wilco will love you...

-William
