With SBS out, what's everybody looking forward to in the rest of the year? Here's my list:

The White Stripes-Icky Thump

The Polyphonic Spree-The Fragile Army

Spoon-Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga

The New Pornographers-Challengers

Animal Collective-Strawberry Jam

Rilo Kiley-Under the Blacklight

And on top of that, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Wolf Parade, and the Mars Volta are all tentatively scheduled to release new albums sometime this year.

Black Crowes principals Chris and Rich Robinson will separately release a live album and DVD in the coming weeks as a precursor to the band's first new studio album in six years. The "Brothers of a Feather" CD is due July 10, while the DVD arrives Sept. 4. Both were taped during the siblings' brief April 2006 acoustic tour.

The album's 14 tracks include two previously unreleased songs ("Magic Rooster Blues" and "Cold Boy Smile") along with Black Crowes warhorses ("Thorn in My Pride," "Cursed Diamond") covers (Little Feat's "Roll Um Easy"), and songs from both brothers solo catalogs.

The 20-track "Birds of a Feather" DVD, which comes bundled with the album, tacks on songs such as "Better When You're Not Alone," "Welcome to the Goodtimes" and "Jealous Again." Concertgoers who attend the August and September dates on the Crowes' U.S. tour will receive a discount coupon allowing them to purchase the "Brothers" DVD separately.

The upcoming dates come on the heels of lineup changes; both keyboardist Eddie Hawrysch and guitarist Marc Ford parted ways with the group in late 2006. As for the follow-up to 2001's "Lions," the Crowes' Web site says it will arrive early next year and will "coincide with a world tour."

Here is the track list for the "Brothers of a Feather" CD:

"Horsehead"

"Cursed Diamond"

"Over the Hill"

"Magic Rooster Blues"

"My Heart's Killing Me"

"Forgiven Song"

"Someday Past rhe Sunset"

"Roll Um Easy"

"Cold Boy Smile"

"Driving Wheel"

"Leave It Alone"

"Polly"

"Darling of rhe Underground Press"

"Thorn In My Pride"

Hey A-man, have you listened to the Marc Ford album he put out a few months ago? Just wondering if it'd be worth looking into at all.

I have not heard it - I think there are some songs from it on his myspace page.

Tsk. Tsk. MrRain. Ye of little faith in the upcoming Pup's album.

I'll tell you, they sounded fantastic a few weeks ago. Some tunes were a little rushed (I realize it's part of their live deal, but they were even rushed from that perspective) but they were energetic, clicking, having fun, and played their collective ass off. Lots of chestnuts. Sounded like the old days.

Oh, not that I don't have faith in a new Meat Puppets album, more that I've just lost some interest in listening to them as compared to a few years ago. Also, I forgot that they had a new one coming out that fast or else I probably would have listed 'em. :)
