The latest Ryan Adams thread

Recommended Posts

Once again, another cultural reference goes over my head. Whooooosh.

That video segment represents your safe mild mannered skirt wearing god fearing duck and cover childhood of 1950s, as well as, the satanic death cult stylings of today's video game brain rotted latch key late night cartoon watching youth.

Thus, it is an example of the difference between the relative quietness of Easy Tiger verses the metal parody songs found on the artist who is named in the thread topic line we are currently posting in on the Wilco fansite known as Via Chicago.

Plus, it's fucking funny as hell.

You have blond hair, you could be a metal chick.

:lol Nope, not a metal chick. Sorry. I was just your basic hippie chick who loved Flying Burrito Brothers, Doobie Brothers, and Brothers Johnson. But never metal. :hmm

Now onto other news: from paste.com

Well, if you live on the West Coast, get ready to make a date with Adams and his Cardinals. They've stayed busy in 2007 with Easy Tiger and the recently-released Follow The Lights EP, and aim to get an early jump on '08 with a run of 10 January dates. Give 'em a glance:

January

18 - Tucson, Ariz. @ Rialto Theater

19 - San Diego, Calif. @ Spreckels Theatre

21 - Santa Barbara, Calif. @ Arlington Theater

22 - Claremont, Calif. @ Bridges Auditorium

23 - San Rafael, Calif. @ Marin Center

25 - Salem, Ore. @ Elsinore Theater

26 - Seattle, Wash. @ Paramount Theater

Eh, I didn't care much for the EP. But I have to say, the show he recently played here in DC was SO FREAKING UNBELIEVABLY BAD (and I'm a huge fanboy, I really like the Cardinals albums, live Bedhead, Easy Tiger, etc -- just trust me, it was a TERRIBLE show, could not have been more boring) ... Not sure if it's still just that bad taste in my mouth. I was glad to hear "if I am a stranger" just b/c it's a good song, though I agree the first cut was better.

I definitely didn't find "Down in a Hole" very inspired, but then again I haven't really ever been into any of his covers, I find them kinda flat somehow (idk why). From Wonderwall to his cover of Jesse Malin's amazing song Brooklyn, just never really have liked how he does them, they don't seem very inspired to me.

Guest Speed Racer

I almost feel embarrassed asking this, but does anybody have an mp3 of Aw Shit (Look Who Got a Website)? Because I've missed having that in my life/spitting Diet Coke out of my nose.

I never thought Oasis would play Vancouver again. Last time they did, in the 90s, someone apparently threw a shoe at one of the brothers and they haven't been back since.
