I'm hoping someone wrote the setlist down, it was stellar. I saw several tapers, at least one about 20 "rows" back, and at least two in the SBD box. This is gonna be one people will want to download. But a special treat for me meeting all the wonderful, local and semi-local people from here. My family and I *LOVED* meeting all of the VC'ers!! My husband used to make fun of me for hanging around here all of the time; he has definately changed his mind. Late last night he was like, "Wow...and you've "met" all of those people on VC? Edit: show is up at bt.etree already...Pittsburgh was a seated venue. In my limited experience those shows just don't seem to be as fun. Jeff commented on how much he liked Pittsburgh and referenced another city that he did not like. He then mentioned that Cleveland sucked. This got a pretty big response from the crowd seeing as how Pittsburgh hates the Browns and all. I did both Pittsburgh and C'ville and last night was an almost religious experience. I'm whipped today. I'm already looking forward to the spring. I would follow this band anywhere. My friend hooked me up with free tix he won from the local radio station because he said "I don't know anyone else who likes Wilco" Well he converted last night, at one point telling me (he has a surgically repaired foot and the venue has a slight incline) "I kept telling yself after the next song I need to go sit in the grass, but then the next song rocked" What a fantastic band. I'd never been to AJ Palumbo Center before, the size wasn't bad, but I really think it would have been a great place for a general admission area, I think it would have brought the energy level up. (They sounded amazing though, no complaints there at all! I had a fantastic time). I was one of the Clevelanders there (there was a nice couple we talked to briefly outside the venue and when I said where I was from he said "Oh you're one of THOSE people" jokingly. I was also one of the people talking to Jeff about Cleveland afterward (he was kind enough to put his sandwich on hold to talk to everyone, he deserves much thanks for doing that by the way!). I could be dreaming, but I think if they played in Kent instead of Cleveland proper it could potentially be a lot of fun for everyone all the way around. Anyway, I am hijacking the Charlottesville thread, sorry. I wish I could have slid on over to VA for this one! Isadorah, I hope you had a great time! I Remember D Boon recognized me in the line for the bathroom. :-) lovecontagious, i totally understand what you are saying. i met one VCer there and recognized another person from Richmond who i used to work with and who is a big Wilco fan. at any rate, i was on a rather large Dylan message board and pretty much any Dylan show i went to had a pre-show/after-show get together and party with people from the message board who were attending that show. the feeling you get when you start discussing setlists with someone as passionate as you, well, you know how great that can be. next time, we'll have to have an organized VC meet-up! -justin Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I thought the show was a slow builder, and perhaps contained too many SBS songs for my liking but really built towards the end of the set and on through three ridiculously high-energy encores. I was right in front, just right of center stage and as is often the case with GA shos in drunken college towns, there were some Class A assholes to deal with. About midway through the main set a couple came down from out of nowhere and pushed their way right in front of those of us who had been around for hours in line and down front and really pissed off most everyone in my area. The guy was drinking out of a flask and both of them talked incesantly and we're generally disruptive. Later still they pulled a third person down front from behind and more words we're exchanged yet amongst 6 or 7 off us and them. When they tried to pull a fourth person down front, we blocked out two of them from the stage altogether and the guy got real pissy and started cussing. They finally left the area to much applause. Then Wilco launched into the most ridiclous encores I've seen since the first show In Asheville in spring '03. They were on fire and the crowd was responding with dancing, singing and lots of energy. When they kicked into the first chorus of Spiders two more drunken guys spilled down into the front out of nowhere, and many of us, told them to keep moving and to get out of our way. One did, but another started flailing around and crashed into myself and my partner. I lost my cool and pushed him rather aggresively to the front of the stage, when a bouncer who had witnessed the whole scene, came along and cleared him out of the area. It was unfortunate that it ever came to that, but a few too many drunks in one night caused it all. Sorry for the long rant, but I thought I'd add a little color to what was going on down front. Also played in the soundcheck was When The Roses Bloom Again and Magazine Called Sunset. It was clear as a bell two blocks away on the mall. A very solid tour-ending show and apparently the last show that Wilco's tour manager will be a part of, as he has a kid on the way, and is retiring from the road. There is a tendency for fans of any band that they love to proclaim that every show is the best show of all time. That's just not always the case. I was at the Louisville show a few weeks back and was in a seat, and much further back, but overall it was a superior show to me. I enjoyed Dr. Dog 100 to 1 over last night's opener, I liked the venue more, the vibe more and the band seemed to be locked into a groove from the get go, whereas I felt that the show last night was fairly sluggish until the encores, therefore I commented on something other than OHMYGOD last night's show was the best show ever! Sorry for the long rant, but I thought I'd add a little color to what was going on down front. yea those guys were major assholes they cut infront of me but kept going to my right, it seemed like most of them were off to my right so it wasn't too bad for me. and you pushed him right into me and 2 people in front of me but i was happy to see him hit the stage hard.
